New canine painting
Went to a great walk-in workshop yesterday. Got some useful information on using color to paint black dogs. Here's my first try. It is cropped by the size of my scanner, but this almost shows the difference between the use of color here and in older paintings. It actually has livelier color than shown here.
The image itself takes up about 9"x12" on Arches, 140 lb., cold press.

Getting Acquainted with Woody and Winnie
Here are my latest watercolors. I am getting acquainted with ways to represent Woody, the canine on the right, and Winnie, on the left. These 3 sketches are in the order which I painted them, first on top, second, then third. I can see the improvement as I progressed.
This first one of Woody and puppy, Winnie, is 5"x7".
Woody. 7"x5"
Woody as a pup. 7"x5"

Fun with Brittany Spaniel
Here are a couple of 5"X3.5" watercolors of "Jack."
I still haven't gotten a good sense of how to use the Canoscan I bought in 2002, wih my new MacMini. Had to use a work-around to even get it to scan. Scans don't show the subtle light blues. I have tweeked some of the settings, but still haven't succeeded in finding where the fix is.
